Governors

The role of the governing body is crucial for the effective leadership and management of the school. The governing body complements the professional leadership of our Headteacher and senior staff by bringing a range of perspectives to bear on issues facing the school.   If you wish to contact a Governor, you can do so via the school office or by emailing: governors@hotwells.bristol.sch.uk.

The Governing Body at Hotwells Primary School is organised into the following committees:

  • Teaching and Learning Standards;
  • Finance and Resources;
  • Pay;
  • Audit and Risk Review.

Membership of each committee will be no fewer than 3 governors (depending on the Committee) including the headteacher. The quorum for each committee is 3 Governors.

The Teaching & Learning Standards Committee and the Finance & Resources Committee will meet at least once a term. (Six times a year)

The Pay Committee will meet as and when required but at least once a year.

The chair of each committee is responsible for setting the agenda, making sure minutes are taken, chasing actions and reviewing the terms of reference.

Each committee has the power to make its own decisions and approve policies as set out in the School Governor Year Planner, except where the law requires Full Governing Body approval.
