As a parent you’ll probably know how important the internet is to children and young people. They use it to learn, play, socialise and express themselves in all types of creatve ways. This may be through sharing photos and videos, blogging, gaming, or even developing their own apps. It is a place of amazing opportunites.

The technology children use in their daily lives can seem dauntng. You might worry about the risks they can face online, such as bullying, contact from strangers, as well as the possibility of access to inappropriate or illegal content.

We have put together some useful links that may be helpful for parents

A brilliant site full of helpful tips and resources. I would recommend viewing the ‘The Parents’ and Carers’ Guide to the Internet’ video. It is a TV style programme that covers the main issues of safeguarding online. Many of the clips used in our 'Safeguarding in a digital world' parents meeting (May 2013) were taken from this video.

A series of magazines that can be picked up in a Vodafine shop or dowloaded from the weblink. I would recommend Issue 2 as it contains 10 'How to' guides such as how to set up parental controls on a PC or Mac, privacy settings on Facebook as well as other guides for games consoles.
