Message from Hotwells Primary School's Health & Safety Governor:
As schools all over the country reopen, it’s understandable that parents with children in returning years have concerns. The decision to return your child to school is a personal one, and it can be difficult to know what decision is right.
After personally inspecting the school on Friday, I can assure you that Mrs Delor and the team are taking every precaution to keep your children safe, while still maintaining a sense of normality.
There are separate entrances for each group of children to enter and leave the school, one way systems, floor markings, spaced-out desks and separate play areas that will help to maintain social distancing. There is also a rigorous cleaning schedule of both inside and outside the building, and clear rules for teachers to make sure all government guidelines are followed.
The decision has been made to stagger the return of children, so that staff can assess how well the rules and precautions are working. Improvements can then be made, if needed, ahead of other children returning. This is a very responsible approach in such challenging circumstances.
I’d like to thank Mrs Delor and the team for their hard work and thoughtful planning over these past weeks. And I sincerely hope that things return to normal as soon as possible.
Gemma Al-Kaisy, Hotwells Primary School, Health and Safety Governor. 08/06/20
The role of the governing body is crucial for the effective leadership and management of the school. The governing body complements the professional leadership of our Headteacher and senior staff by bringing a range of perspectives to bear on issues facing the school. Each governor is also a trustee of the Hotwells Primary School Trust. If you wish to contact a Governor, you can do so via the school office or by emailing: email@example.com.
